A "Wicked" Experience in Singapore

I was in Singapore last weekend, my first time to visit the island state. I've never been interested to visit Singapore before; that is until I heard "Wicked" would be staged at the Marina Bay Sands. I've been a big fan of "Wicked" for quite some time now. It's just one of those big Broadway musicals I could only dream of seeing. Besides, it was also a good reason to finally see the Lion City.

Well, my impressions of Singapore are all the things you've heard about it from other people: it's clean, has lots of trees, it's orderly and efficient, and so on. Those things I immediately noticed, especially the trees.

Did someone tell you it has loads of Pinoys too? We are everywhere there! In the bus, on the train, on the pavement... every freaking where. It's nice though. It's like being back in Manila, only it's way, way cleaner than the usual.

So I also have Pinoy friends there who warmly welcomed me to their home for two nights. We hopped around the bars in the gay area of Tanjung Pagar (if I remember that correctly) on my first night there.

I fell in love with that area just around China Town - all those quaint old shophouses and temples - where I also went to meet some more friends for lunch at a hawker's place. By the way, I was absolutely thrilled by the diversity of food one can find in Singapore. No, I did not try chicken rice or crab chili thingie when I was there. That should be for next time no?

I also missed going to the Singapore Art Museum, which was in my itinerary. I just ran out of time, so I instead went straight from China Town to Marina Bay Sands.

Gosh, that is one posh place. I'm not too sold out on the architecture though (I saw the mall mostly). It's meant to awe, the sheer enormity of it - glass, steel, lights, and all - is supposed to sweep you off your feet, but obviously not mine. I don't know, I just felt disconnected from it. Or maybe I'm just bitter because I could not afford anything there. :-)

So it's time to watch "Wicked". I was there way too early, I was one of the first few people who entered the lobby. Excited much?

The show was ahhhmazing. I'm not kidding when I say that I had goosebumps practically through the entire show. I've been listening to the musical's songs for ages now, and to finally see them given life by the actors, dancers, lights, costumes, and set was nothing short of a transcendental experience.

For me, Glinda (Suzie Mathers), the good witch, stole the show. She's perky, endearingly self-absorbed, and, how shall I put this... kikay.

Elphaba (Zoe Jarett) was overshadowed perhaps because she lacked intensity. She's a good singer of course, but I expected Elphaba to be more fervent, if not angrier. Even the "Defying Gravity" segment lacked power... but then maybe I just expected too much from the scene.

The other scene I most looked forward to is the one in which they sing "For Good". I've always loved that song and seeing it performed on stage almost made me cry.

So watching "Wicked" was a dream come true for me. All those songs are still playing in my head. And as I write this post I'm listening to its recording. Thanks a lot for the kind soul who made it possible... you know who you are.

Favorite Things of 2011

It's that time of the year again when I list down my favorite "things"... for lack of a better term.

I really don't have a proper criteria, just that these are personal favorites from the year that's just about to end. These are the things that I felt were highlights of 2011, the things that make 2011 more memorable. (These books and films for instance didn't have to be released in 2011, but I had access to them in only 2011.)

So let's start.

My favorite film is "Dogtooth" (2009). This Greek film blew me away for its unusual depiction of parenting. It resonated with me because often I question to what extent parents should influence the "reality" that their children are exposed to. This movie has some answers that made me squirm.

My favorite documentary is "Exit Through the Gift Shop" (2010). This is one hilarious and irreverent documentary about street art, its driving forces, and how it has crept into the mainstream art market.

My favorite album is absolutely Adele's "21". I mean, haler!!! Enough said. I'm almost tempted to name Lady Gaga's "Born this Way", but I based my choice on the number of times I listened to each album, and "21" has been on loop in my computer since it was released.

Which makes my favorite song "Someone Like You". I'm sure I'm not alone in naming it their favorite song of the year, and it's easy to understand why.

My favorite novel is "Room" (2010) by Emma Donoghue. It's very difficult to read it at times because of the horrific experience of its main characters. But it ends with a positive note, somehow. I've been recommending this novel to all my friends.

My favorite non-fiction book is "The Case for God" (2009) by renowned scholar Karen Armstrong. The book traces the history of religion (mainly the Abrahamic ones), its philosophy, and practice, and asserts that religion is transcendental and best known through practice.

My favorite website is Piratebay. How on earth would I survive the year without this website where I get my movies and music, aber? I looooooove Piratebay! My second favorite website is Google Reader where I now read all my favorite blogs.

And my favorite blog is still "The Sartorialist". Scott Schuman's blog has evolved to featuring profiles and interviews of his subjects. But he is still consistent in his taste for classic and often times quirky fashion on the streets.

Talk about fashion, my favorite model this year is the androgynous model Andrej Pejic. Now he is the quintessential model: a chameleon. He is as good as a "male" model and as a "female" model. Truly, he represents fashion today, one that is undefinable and fearless.

My favorite clothing brand at the moment is Uniqlo, which opened in Bangkok a few months ago. I love its basics because I'm now on a "basics" phase. It's a big plus Uniqlo is soooo affordable.

Lastly, my favorite trip of the year was my ten days in Myanmar (blog posts here and here). It's a country I've long wanted to visit and it did not disappoint. I was completely enamored of the colonial architecture in Yangon and the serenity of the beaches of Ngwe Saung. I'm definitely going back to Myanmar in 2012.

Happy New Year, my dear ten readers and thanks for still following the blog.

And there's always Diana Krall

For some reason I always run to this song whenever I hit these little snags in life. I remember posting this as well four years back because there's always some comfort in telling your self that in love you win some and then lose some. It's often certain in relationships that when you love you also get hurt eventually. It's the natural progression of relationships.  When things fall apart, and after the initial doubts and perhaps the onslaught of nagging questions, as well as the pain, we just have to live with it and move on.

"Why Should I Care"

Was there something more I could have done?
Or was I not meant to be the one?
Where's the life I thought we would share?
And should I care?

And will someone else get more of you?
Will she go to sleep more sure of you?
Will she wake up knowing you're still there?
And why should I care?

There's always one to turn and walk away
And one who just wants to stay
But who said that love is always fair?
And why should I care?

Should I leave you alone here in the dark?
Holding my broken heart
While a promise still hangs in the air
Why should I care?

4th of July (Fireworks)

Kelis is not selling Milkshake this time, but damn, she's back and is bringing lots of fireworks with her. While I watched with mouth open the video of her other recent single Acapella (see video here), I was more entranced with the styling and clothes than the song itself.

In this new video, on the other hand, I'm not exactly a big fan of the styling. The clothes look a bit too 70s to be taken seriously in an age of music videos in which clothes matter as much as the song. Beyonce, Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga lead the pack.

So Kelis has some catching up to do, or at least her stylists do. There's a certain way to make a round girl like Kelis look more divine than what she's made to wear in 4th of July (Fireworks). She looks like she was made to wear the gowns from last months' Santacruzan in Barrio Anahaw. Besides, the choreography is just completely lifeless! Someone needs to be taught to dance by dragqueens, hon.

But please press play, don't mind the video, and just listen to the song.

I soooo cannot wait to dance to this!

Kylie's Back, Bitches...

It hurts
When you get too close
But baby it hurts
If love is really good
You just want more
Even if it throws you to the fire fire fire fire

4th Blog Anniversary... Tonight I'm not takin no calls 'cause I'll be dancin'

OMG, I'm blowing four candles for my blog anniversary tomorrow! Like, it has been that looooong? Like, really?! Lady Gaga could only wish her career would last four years and right now I'm SUPER sure she's SUPER jealous of me.

Did I hear it right that I already have like ten readers now? *Blush, blush while holding back tears* What else is there to say but a HUGE thank you to everyone who bothers to subject themselves to my torturous ramblings... you masochist monsters! You know I love you! *Rolls eyes*

So on the fourth birthday of my blog, I'm going to give back to my publique. This post is about YOU, my dear readers. Let's bring the focus to you, because without you I'd just be another little lost soul desperately seeking for affirmation.

Because I dedicate the blog anniversary to YOU, what else is there to do but talk more about... who else but my self!?

I want to get your feedback on this blog, you know. I often wonder what you think of what I write here (the comments do not count because most of those who leave comments are my friends, and are expected to pander to me, chai mai?).

I want to democratize this blog for once - open it to everyone - and give a rare opportunity to my ten readers to speak truthfully (well, as long as they are truthfully nice).

I have three questions for you:

(1) What do you want to see/read MORE in the blog?

(2) What do you want to see/read LESS in the blog?

And... a as a bonus (you know I'm generous, right?)...

(3) Anything you want to ask me???

There, as you can tell the theme of this year's celebration is good-old NARCISSISM. Oh, hasn't that been the theme these past four years? Whatever, really.

So to my readers, DO SPEAK UP (you might not get the chance again once the MTRCB takes over). Who knows I might just answer your pleas! Hahahaha.

Text, "Kawadjan Illusionada " and send to 2366 for Globe and Sun subscribers or 257 for Smart and Talk-and-Text subscribers.

Promo closes next Friday (seriously).

Like a Star

Like a Star

(2006)
by Corinne Bailey Rae

Just like a star across my sky
Just like an angel off the page

You have appeared to my life

Feel like I'll never be the same

Just like a song in my heart

Just like oil on my hands

Top List, 2009 Edition

I swear I had this list in my head since September and I planned to come out with my annual "top list" (for lack of a better term) last December. Obviously I did not get to do that coz I was marooned in Surigao.

I contemplated whether I should still come out with the list, after all it's already January and by now most bloggers have already released their respective lists of whatever achuchu and eklavoo.

But then I thought I should still capture my mood for 2009 in some way or another and coming out with a "top list" partly does that.

It will be an abridged list though. Whereas I used to mention my top three of this and that, I'd just go directly to my top choice for each category coz damn I'm the laziest bitch on this bank of the Chao Phraya.

Gosh, enough of the preliminaries...

Top Model: Karlie Kloss

Top Book (non-fiction): The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order (1996)
by Samuel Huntington

Top Book (fiction): Never Let Me Go (2005)
by Kazuo Ishiguro

Top Film (documentary): Burma VJ

Top Film (feature): Revolutionary Road

Top Dance Track: Single Ladies by Beyonce
(sorry Laddy Gaga, but you're a close second anyway)

Top Album: 19 by Adele

Top Trip: Las Islas Filipinas (June 2009)

Top Inspiration: Bangkok (it still is!)

Lady Gaga in Talk Asia

All excerpts below are from an accompanying article on CNN.com, which says that apparently Lady Gaga had to be "pacified" from practically walking away from the interview.

The full article is found here.

Part Uno

"I'm sort of a musical pop music misfit," she said in her slow New York drawl, and "a relentless bitch" in response to how she had got to the top of the music industry.

Part Dos

She claims Lady Gaga is not a persona and it seems she is committed to living as closely to the wild fantasy shown in her videos. More at home on the stage than in the interview chair --"We could sit here and talk, but you will never know who I am unless you see me live" -- even Gaga's faithful make-up artist (in attendance throughout the interview) thought she was crazy because she sleeps in her wigs.

Was it to keep the persona up, stay in character? No, "I just like wigs," she said with an unintentional comic deadpan.

Part Tres

Composure regained, "You can ask me about scrutiny, but I'd prefer if you didn't..." Gaga said.

"Chasing Pavements" by Adele

I'm freaking KUHRAYZEEEE over Adele for the past two weeks now (see her Wikipedia entry here). I've been listening to her album day in and day out and I could not seem to get enough of her music.

And she's even fat! How can I like her that much when we all know that I have a strict body mass index requirement of 19 (and that's already generous) for the people I like? (Joke, bitches.)

Anyway, I first discovered her while watching the runway show of Burberry Prorsum (I could not remember the season) wherein her fantastic song Hometown Glory was used. (Watch the video here.)

I instantly fell in love. She has this amazing soulful voice that just haunts me.

Lately I've been listening to Chasing Pavements, which also appeared in her 2008 debut album 19.

I've already posted a link to this video on my Facebook site but let me post it here nonetheless.

Should I give up,
Or should I just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere,

Or would it be a waste?

Even If I knew my place should I leave it there?

Should I give up,
Or should I just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere

Oh, I'm yet again taking a blog break until perhaps Sunday as I'm flying to the north of Thailand tomorrow for a meeting. Will bring you full-blown campiness when I come back.

When Love Takes Over

This is my current favorite dance floor music, which I have been listening to in my PC for some weeks now. Finally it was played in the club last weekend when I went out with not-too-obese Bubbles (peace, Juliana Imai... mwah, mwah).

The song's called When Love Takes Over, by David Guetta (I'm sorry, I don't have any idea who he is exactly) featuring Kelly Rowland.

BTW, Kelly is the host of The Fashion Show, that copycat of Project Runway. It's on Youtube, bitches. Lyka, you are watching this, right?

One of the designers who reached the top three is a Filipino BTW, and his name is James Paul. Just an FYI. I doubt he'd win coz he's way too avant-garde and is thus not compatible with American viewers (there's a public voting, which I truly, truly detest... what do Americans know about fashion?)

Oh, just press play.

[Edit: Changed the clip into the music video. Kelly is quite pretty, chai mai?]

When love takes over yeaaah
You know you can’t deny
When love takes over yeaaah
‘Cause something’s here tonight

Hush Hush

OMG, I heard this song for the first time last weekend in a club. And I swear I could not get enough of it, right Bubbles?

I'm sorry for the quality of the video below though, but this is the best I could find at the moment.

Just press play and listen (there's a familiar tune in the middle of the song, girls).

Can't Have It All

Awww... one of the most fascinating singer-songwriters just released a new music video. Remember me writing about the uber fabulous - and my long-time crush - Jay Brannan here and here?

This new video is very, very melancholic but the lyrics makes it totally cute.

Well it helps as well that Jay is the cutest thing around, right?

cant have it all
music and lyrics by jay brannan

applying moisturizer in the microwave window
for the tenth time, he shouldve called me an hour ago
would he be here with flowers if i lived in arizona?

they say theres no love left in the big cities, its kinda true
i guess youll find me coming soon to a small town near you
ill sell my guitar so i can by myself a tractor

fuck this, this cant be my life
i moisturized ten times tonight
why cant i sit down and write,
bring this question to light?

chorus

do you want a lover, or do you want a life?
one hand or the other, the butter or the bread knife?
do you choose winter, spring, summer, or fall?
its driving me crazy that i cant have it all

if these walls could talk, theyd probably cry out for mercy
til im outlined in chalk, ill be romantically thirsty
so i drink and drink from the proverbial time sink

fuck this, this cant be my life
tears flowing in full force tonight
why cant i sit down and write,
bring this question to light?

chorus

do we hold the future, or does it come in peace?
and if its in my hands, are you sure it should be in brittle hands like these?
life, love, and the pursuit of all the things they promised me
can i have all of the above? are the best things in life truly free?

chorus

Kantahan Na!

On my first month in the Land of Smiles I Limewired some Lani Misalucha and Sarah Geronimo songs. Ok, I also added Regine Velasquez to the list, and we all know how gay that really is.

For days after that I was listening to their songs on loop, even my Singaporean colleague who used to sit beside my cubicle noticed how much wailing blasted from my speakers.

At that time it was the only way for me to reconnect with home.

For the past two months I've caught my self watching loads of Lea Salonga, Regine, and even freaking Charice on Youtube. I've even caught a few performances of those crappy Sunday wailing-fest called ASAP and SOP. I've spent hours and hours poring over these clips especially late in the evening when I'm free to turn the volume to max. Don't ask me if I do dare sing with Regine, which I might actually have. Hihihi.

If there's any thing I missed about the Las Islas Filipinas it has to be our music. My BKK-based Pinoy friends and I were talking about this recently and we all agreed that we do take music seriously back home.

Not that any one of us was trained to sing but we know what is good singing and what is not. It's easy for us to know when a song is sung from the heart. You can tell that the singer is telling you a story. You feel it in your gut. You can feel the passion.

Take for example this medley of George Canseco songs by Regine. [Ok, I'm not exactly a big fan of the girl, but she can sing... uhmmm, albeit she's irritating most of the time.] This nine-minute clip is composed of Hanggang sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan, Kung Ako'y Iiwan Mo, and Ngayon at Kailanman.

I love the lyrics of Ngayon at Kailanman, which is roughly translated into Now and Forever. The song is a staple in most Pinoy weddings.

Sa bawat araw ang pag-ibig ko sa ‘yo liyag
Lalong tumatamis, tumitingkad
Bawat kahapon ay daig nitong bawat ngayon
Na daig ng bawat bukas

The poetry of the song is just astounding. I attempted to translate to English the above segment of the lyrics but I totally ran out of words trying to give justice to the beauty of the original.

But how do you exactly translate Filipino songs without losing its essence? How do you translate for instance Langis at Tubig without making it sound like a commercial for Petron and MWSS? Or how about Kastilyong Buhangin without making it sound like an ad for a resort in Boracay? Haggard, di ba?

Ok, for those who are into English songs by Filipino composers, here's a nine-minute sample of Ryan Cayabyab's Sometime, Somewhere, How Can I and Now That You're Gone from the same Regine concert (kahit sumabit sya sa pinakadulo).

Don't you just love how she sang Now That You're Gone [4:00]? Such emotions! Since I discovered this clip I've been listening to it over and over again and the song never fails to enthrall me. It just makes me want to cry every time. I swear!

Recently, a Vietnamese friend told me that he used to work with a Filipino who goes home during lunch-time everyday to: 1) lafang and 2) sing karaoke using his Magic Sing that he brought all the way from Manille to Saigon. He did that every freaking day otherwise he would appear listless in the afternoon. How haggard can that be, aber?

So where did we actually get our passion for music? I've wondered about that my self. But we all grew up surrounded by music anyway: from the noisy neighbor who sings Frank Sinatra day in and day out to the blasting music in the jeepneys that we ride to school everyday.

Also, didn't our parents put us on top of a table during family parties and coerced us to sing? Well my parents certainly did. And I remember always singing something from Annie when I was about five. I think the song is Tomorrow. Now please don't wonder why I turned gay, di ba?

Anyway, the point is, we grow up in this culture infused with music. There's never an occasion not worth singing for, even funerals, which have some of the most haunting and poetic songs in memory. Even if we are brought to distant lands, we always find ourselves armed with one Magic Sing microphone, crooning through life's pains and joys. How can you exactly imagine Pinoys without music?

Top Dance Tracks of 2008

I did have my fair share of clubbing this year and there were some songs that just pushed me to move, uhm... gayer than usual. And no, I'm not talking about the freaking Dream Girls remixes. Ugh, they make my ears bleed! Puhlease.

Today, I pick my top dance tracks of the year.

So what is my criteria exactly? Hmmm... nothing. Whatever connects with me, whatever makes me want to close my eyes in the middle of the dance floor and be lifted by it. The list is biased towards the pop remix, as you can tell. I simply like the tracks that I can sing to, eh ano ngayon?

But before we proceed, I just want to share this particular remix of Pussycat Dolls' I Hate This Part, which I hope would be big in 2009. I hardly like anything from them, but I like the singing here. And I have a strong feeling that gay men would like it.

So here are my top picks. Just press play, bitches.

Second runner-up: Please Don't Stop the Music by Rihanna

First runner-up: Say It Right by Nelly Furtado

And the winner is...

Just Dance
by Lady Gaga

I swear, nakaka-gaga si Lady Gaga. Bading na bading, di ba?

Obsession Du Jour: Love Lockdown

I was waiting for The Amazing Race on TV earlier tonight when I switched to Chic Channel, that cheap and unacceptable alternative to Fashion TV in Thailand. But, what choice do I have really? Anyway, they were showing Dolce and Gabbana's Spring-Summer 2009 show, and you know me, give me a bloody fashion show and I'm hooked.

I do not really care so much for Dolce and Gabbana, much less D&G. I was only captivated by the Imelda slash Mini Mouse sleeves and those opulent, shiny fabrics. Those bejewelled belts are also to die for too. But pyjama look for spring? I don't think so.

Meanwhile, the line-up of models is reason enough for me to watch this show. It was opened AND closed by the current ultimate queen of the catwalk, Natasha Poly. Fuck, I worship the ground she walks on. Also in the show are my favorite girls Maryna, Coco, Olga, Alana, Kinga, Vlada, Tanya, Georgina, Karlie, Anja, and Daul. Even unparalleled Maria Carla made an appearance. I had an orgasm, I swear.

This video was on loop on Youtube tonight while I was working on a speech for my boss. And the primary reason is the fucking awesome music. The song's called Love Lockdown by Kanye West and remixed by Chew Fu (watch the Youtube video of the song here). I did not watch the video every time it played but grooving to the music is good enough. It pretty much kept me awake way until past midnight.

You listen na. Now. Na. You don't have to watch the video as well. Do yourself a favor, bitch. Just listen to it. Press play.

Elephants

I first heard of Rachael Yamagata a long, long time ago from Kiks. It took me several months before I searched and downloaded her songs from Limewire and since then she's on the top of my playlist. (Check her official website here.)

I listen to her whenever I WANT to feel somber. Her sultry voice never fails to carry me to a melancholic place. The introspective mood of her lyrics are poetic and intimate, and are mostly filled with longing and pain.

Take for example this song called Elephants from her 2008 album
Elephants...Teeth Sinking Into Heart.

Elephants
by Rachael Yamagata

If the elephants have past lives, Yet all destined to always remember
It’s no wonder how they scream, Like you and I, they must have some temper

And I am dreaming of them on the planes
Dirtying up their beds,
Watching for some sign of rain to cool their hot heads

And how dare that you send me that card, When I am doing all that I can do
You are forcing me to remember, When all I want is just forget you

If the tiger shall protect her young, Then tell me how did you sleep by?
Oh, my instincts have failed me for once, I must have slept the whole night

And I am dreaming of them with their kill, Tearing it all apart
Blood dripping from their lips, And teeth sinking into heart

And how dare that you say you’ll call, When you know I need some peace of mind
If you have to take sides with the animals, Won’t you do it with one who is kind?

If the hawks in the trees need the dead, If you are living you don’t stand a chance
You can lie there and say you are fed, But there are only two ends to this dance

You can flee with your wounds just in time
Or lie there as he feeds,
Watching yourself ripped to shreds and laughing as you bleed

So for those have you fallen in love, Keep it kind, keep it good, keep it right
Throw yourself in the mist of danger, But keep an eye open at night

Eat That, Beyonce!

This fucking made my day!!!

First, watch this original video of Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) by Beyonce. Well it's a known fact that the girl can move.

And check out this amazing sistah werking the video in his own bedroom (I found this clip via uber gay blog Gayz of Our Lives). Gawdness!!! If only I can get my hands off Lay's and Coke, which I'm guiltily gorging on AS I SPEAK, I would probably be as skinny as this guy. Such a thinspiration!

Now this is how you werk, Beyonce!

Gravity

A few months ago, my ex-uber-colleague, Jay, forwarded me a number of songs through YM. One of the batches he sent was from a certain singer called Sara Bareilles. At that time, I had no idea who she is, but Jay assured me that she is worth listening to. So listened the fagot did. Instantly I was mesmerized by her stirring voice, complemented by her appealing song-writing. She's a bit Fiona Apple-ish and Sarah Mclachlan-ish actually, albeit more upbeat and "popy". Read more about her in her official website.

Since discovering her music, I've been listening to her practically everyday (together with Jason Mraz and Mika). Her best known song to date is Love Song, which I sometimes hear in food courts in BKK, and even in the sidewalks of Silom. Girl is obviously getting more popular by the minute. My favorite song, however, is called Gravity. The official video is found here, and here's a live version of the song.

Gravity
by: Sara Bareilles

Something always brings me back to you.
It never takes too long.
No matter what I say or do I'll still feel you here 'til the moment I'm gone.

You hold me without touch, You keep me without chains.
I never wanted anything so much than to drown in your love and not feel your reign.

[CHORUS:]
Set me free, leave me be. I don't want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I'm supposed to be.
But you're on to me and all over me.

You loved me 'cause I'm fragile, When I thought that I was strong.
But you touch me for a little while and all my fragile strength is gone.

[CHORUS]

I live here on my knees as I try to make you see that you're everything I think I need here on
The ground.
But you're neither friend nor foe though I can't seem to let you go.
The one thing that I still know is that you're keeping me down

Amy Says It All

Tears Dry on Their Own
by Amy Winehouse

And this regret I had to get accustomed to, Once it was so right
When we were at our high, Waiting for you in the hotel at night
I knew I hadn't met my match, But every moment we could snatch
I don’t know why I got so attached, It’s my responsibility
You don’t owe nothing to me, But to walk away I have no capacity

He walks away the sun goes down, He takes the day but I’m grown
And in this grey, In this blue shade
My tears dry on their own

I don’t understand, Why do I stress a man?
When there’s so many better things at hand
We could've never had it all

We had to hit a wall, So this is inevitable withdrawal

Even if I stop wanting you, And perspective pushes through
I’ll be some next man’s other woman soon, I shouldn't play myself again
I should just be my own best friend, Not fuck myself in the head with stupid men

He walks away the sun goes down, He takes the day but I’m grown
And its ok, In this blue shade, My tears dry on their own

So we are history, Your shadow covers me
The sky above, A blaze that only lovers see

He walks away the sun goes down, He takes the day but I’m grown
And its ok, In this blue shade, My tears dry on their own

I wish I could say no regrets, And no emotional debts
And as we kiss goodbye the sun sets, So we are history

A shadow covers me, The sky above a blaze, That only lovers see

He walks away the sun goes down, He takes the day but I’m grown
